SendMoney allows TymeBank customers to send cash to anyone with a valid South African cellphone number – no bank account needed. Money can be sent online via TymeBank’s SmartApp or Internet Banking site.

How to Use SendMoney

  1. Enter Details
    • Log into your TymeBank account via the SmartApp or Internet Banking.
    • Choose the ‘SendMoney’ option and enter the recipient’s mobile number (SA only) and the amount to send (up to R5000 per day).
  2. Double Check
    • Verify the recipient’s details are 100% correct and click Confirm. Note that once the payment is made, it cannot be undone.
  3. Sending TymeBank to TymeBank
    • The money is instantly transferred to the recipient’s TymeBank EveryDay account, and they receive an SMS notification.
  4. Sending TymeBank to Non-TymeBank
    • The recipient receives an SMS with the amount sent and a 10-digit voucher number. This number is valid for 7 days.

How to Receive Money Sent

  1. If You Bank with TymeBank
    • The money will be in your EveryDay account immediately. You can withdraw it from any ATM Mzansi or at any Pick n Pay and Boxer stores for FREE.
  2. If You Don’t Bank with TymeBank
    • You’ll receive an SMS with a 10-digit voucher number. Take this voucher to any till point at Pick n Pay or Boxer stores to cash out.

How to Send Money Using USSD

  1. Enter Details
    • Using the cell phone number linked to your TymeBank account, dial *120*543# and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Double Check
    • Confirm the amount and the recipient’s cellphone number. If incorrect, click 2 to cancel or 0 to go back to the main menu.
  3. Confirmation
    • You will receive a confirmation message once the money has been successfully sent. Tap Dismiss if you’re done.

Common Questions and Issues

Can a SendMoney SMS Be Re-sent?

Yes, visit your transaction history on the SmartApp or Internet Banking. Go to ‘Previous transactions’ in your EveryDay account, click on the purchase, and select the option to resend the SMS.

How to Cancel My SendMoney

You cannot cancel or reverse a SendMoney transaction. If the money was sent to an incorrect number and not redeemed within 7 days, it will be automatically reversed into your account at midnight on the 7th day. TymeBank will not transfer funds to a new cellphone number or refund/correct payments made to the wrong number or person.

SendMoney SMS Not Received

You can resend the SMS. Ensure the recipient’s number is correct, they are in an area with strong signal, and their SMS inbox is not full. Then, go to your transaction history on the SmartApp or Internet Banking, click on the SendMoney transaction, and select the option to resend the voucher number.

Do SendMoney Vouchers Expire?

If the recipient doesn’t redeem the money within 7 days, the money will be reversed into the sender’s account at midnight on the 7th day after the transaction.
