- New Students: If you’ve never studied towards a formal qualification at the University of South Africa (UNISA), you must apply for a UNISA student number.
- Short Learning Programme Students: Numbers issued for short learning programmes are not valid for formal qualifications. Transitioning to a formal qualification requires a new student number.
- GSBL Applicants: Applicants to the Graduate School of Business Leadership (GSBL) must apply for a UNISA student number unless previously studied towards a formal qualification at UNISA.
- Selection Degree Applicants: If you’re applying for a selection degree and have never studied at UNISA, you need a student number. Without it, you cannot register even if selected.
