Standard Bank Instant Money allows you to send money to anyone with a cellphone number without needing a bank account. Recipients can collect the money at any Standard Bank ATM or retail partner, including Spaza Shops, Spar, PEP, Pick n Pay, and Shoprite stores nationwide.

How Instant Money Works

  1. Registration: Dial *120*212#, enter your ID number, and create a unique Instant Money Wallet PIN.
  2. Accessing Your Wallet: Use Internet Banking, Cellphone Banking, the Banking app, ATMs, or retail partners to load money into your Instant Money Wallet.
  3. Sending Money: Send cash to anyone with a South African cellphone number. The recipient will receive a voucher number and PIN to collect the money.
  4. Collection: Recipients can collect money at any Standard Bank ATM or participating store using the voucher number and PIN.

Managing Your Money

  • Retail Partners: You can load or withdraw funds at Boxer, Checkers, House and Home, OK Furniture, OTT Collect approved sites, PEP, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Spar, and Usave.
  • Sending Money at a Retailer: Provide your ID and cellphone number at the till, confirm the amount, and receive a voucher number and PIN to share with the recipient.
  • Receiving Money at a Retailer: Provide the cashier with the voucher number and key in the 4-digit PIN.

Standard Bank Instant Money vouchers are valid for 3 years.

Withdrawal Limits

  • Daily Limit: Withdraw up to R5,000 per day from a retailer or ATM.
  • Monthly Limit: Withdraw up to R25,000 per month.

Troubleshooting

Recipient Didn’t Receive Instant Money Voucher

  • Call the Instant Money contact centre at 0860 466 639, select option 1 for self-service or option 2 to speak to a consultant.
  • Spar can resend the last active voucher with proof of ID.

Changing a Voucher PIN

  • Cellphone Banking:
    1. Dial *120*2345#, log in with your 5-digit PIN.
    2. Select ‘Payments and transfers’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Change collection PIN’.
    3. Select the voucher and enter the new 4-digit PIN.
  • Banking App:
    1. Sign in and select ‘Transact’ > ‘Pay’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Manage vouchers’.
    2. Click ‘Change PIN’ under the voucher and enter the new PIN.
  • Internet Banking:
    1. Sign in, select ‘Transact’ > ‘Pay’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Manage vouchers’.
    2. Click ‘Change PIN’ under the voucher and enter the new PIN.
  • Instant Money Wallet:
    1. Dial *120*212#, enter your 5-digit PIN.
    2. Select ‘Manage vouchers’ > ‘Change collection PIN’, select the voucher, and enter the new PIN.

Cancelling a Voucher

General Cancellation:

  • You can cancel a voucher through the channel used to send it.
  • If sent from a retailer, take your ID and the transaction slip to the store. If the slip is lost, call the Instant Money contact centre at 0860 466 639 for the transaction reference number.
  • Note: Voucher send fee is non-refundable.

Using Cellphone Banking:

  1. Dial *120*2345#, log in with your 5-digit PIN.
  2. Select ‘Payments and transfers’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Cancel a voucher’.
  3. Select the voucher and enter the 4-digit PIN to confirm cancellation.

Using the Banking App:

  1. Sign in, select ‘Transact’ > ‘Pay’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Manage vouchers’.
  2. Click ‘Delete voucher’ under the voucher and enter the 4-digit PIN to confirm cancellation.

Using Internet Banking:

  1. Sign in, select ‘Transact’ > ‘Pay’ > ‘Instant Money’ > ‘Manage vouchers’.
  2. Click ‘Delete voucher’ under the voucher and enter the 4-digit PIN to confirm cancellation.

Using Instant Money Wallet:

  1. Dial *120*212#, enter your 5-digit PIN.
  2. Select ‘Manage vouchers’ > ‘Cancel voucher’, select the voucher, and enter the 4-digit PIN to confirm cancellation.

Additional Information

  • PIN Expiry: The Instant Money PIN does not expire. If entered incorrectly three times, it will be blocked. The sender must reset the PIN or call the Instant Money contact centre at 0860 466 639 for assistance.
